Overview

The fictitious pleasantries that two maid-servants imagine are passed in the usual course of tea on the terrace are not at all what goes on - once the servants have been dismissed. In an off-hand manner that shocks her hostess, Caroline announces she is terminally ill. Her subsequent revelations only serve to draw the two women closer together.
