Overview

To Albert, retired miner, his allotment is his piece of England, his escape from the world. The Council places a repossession order on the land; Albert is determined to keep his tenancy. Several people urge him to give up and familiar facets of human behaviour are revealed. Eventually nature takes its course in this gently amusing 'slice of life'.
