Summary
All the Barcham family wished to be fashionable on the wedding day of the eldest daughter, and dressed accordingly. Unfortunately, Mr Barcham, not being used to fashionable clothes, finds his collar distinctly uncomfortable. Mr Tuttle, his oldest friend and father of the bridgegroom, comments tactlessly on the collar, and Mr Barcham, despite Mrs Barcham's warning against repeating his usual quarrels with Mr Tuttle, loses his temper and refuses to go to the wedding. Everyone tries their utmost to persuade him to alter his decision, but to no effect. However, Mr Barcham gets sentimental over the bridal bouquet and decides to go after all. Fortunately, Mrs Barcham had foreseen the whole affair and had altered the clocks to allow for the loss of time occasioned by the incident.
