Summary
Men have exterminated their race by the microbes they intended only for their enemies. Now the animals are rejoicing that the world once more belongs to them, and we hear their terrible indictment against Man for his arrogant stupidity. Only Bill, the spaniel, is unhappy. Then an Angel appears. He has been sent to report, and expresses his frief at the passing of a race which might have been His Master's noblest creatures, had they not bowed to the idol of ruthlessness. Lastly, the Other Bill enters, a typical soldier of the Great War, weary and soiled, bewildered by the war and his isolation. He would welcome death, which the animals are anxious to give him, but the Angel leads him away Home, the spaniel following at his heels.
