Summary
Sam Makepiece is a working man reformer, and at Hyde Park every Sunday preaches his belief that we are all beings of one God, regardless of race. He is entirely unaware that his daughter, Joyce, a simple and sincere girl, is going out with a well-educated man who is non-white and that she intends to marry him. Sam's prejudices are tested when his brother and sister-in-law come to tea and inevitably discuss Sam's subject of racial equality - and Sally, their unthinking, shallow daughter, reveals the company that Joyce has been enjoying.
