Mrs Luscombe - (45-60), a mix of motherly sympathy and stong family pride. 

Auntie Ethel - (45-60),Mrs Luscombe's unmarried sister, she lives in the nearby market town of evercombe and frequently intrudes in the family curcle.

Dot Luscombe - works in a shop in Evercombe, the last unmarried member of a family of six

Amy Prangle - a friend of Auntie Ethel

Sid Luscombe - Dot's brother. Rather more enterprising than the rest of the family. Sometimes prosperous, sometimes broke.
