Summary
The Hurling Time is a play for twenty-one men, three women and extras which was originally produced with an all-male cast of children. The play tells of the coming of the Black Death to a small Essex village, through the eyes of a peasant family, then moves on thirty-three years to the Peasants' Revolt, Wat Tyler and John Ball, to King Richard's confrontation and the resulting tragedy to the family.
