Wally Gibbs, becoming engaged to Jane Elliott, in lieu of Doris Chattaway, is threatened with a "breach" suit by latter's mother. Wally appeals to his best friend, Hugh Dalafield, a barrister, to gt him out of his difficulty, and even suggests that Hugh should get Doris into a compromising situation so that he can tax her with being false. Prompted by her mother, Doris calls to see Wally, and is introduced to Hugh, who awakens her sympathy by professiong a disappointment in love.
