Call of the Piper

Full-Length Musical, Dramatic Comedy  /  36any gender (youth)

Liz Barwick, Dorothy Evehart

This imaginative musical begins in Victorian London where seven lonely children from differing backgrounds are brought together by the magic call of the piper. They find themselves transported to the Kingdom of Scholastica, once a musical country, benevolently ruled by its quenn, the High C, and her son the Grand Ioso, but now a tyrannical state under the rule of the Sum King. The staff, former ministers of the deposed High C, explain to the children that they have been sent for a specific purpose and cannot return home until they have found the missing Golden Triangle which will end the reign of slavery and terror. With no option and with bad grace, the children, under the sensible and kindly leadership of Chris, set about the task, encountering many exciting adventures, which involves each making a sacrifice and finding qualities they didn't know they posessed. Finally they are sucessful; the High C is restored to her throne, the piper is revealed as the Grand Ioso, and harmony reigns supreme once more in Scholastica, so much so that the children decide to stay!
