It’s a bad day for David Richmond and his team at the hotel, Tony the barman, porter Sean, barmaid Tanya and ditzy waitress Lucy. First there’s a fussy, demanding customer to contend with, and then Russian mafioso Boris Barushnikov checks in, apparently convinced Tanya is prepared to offer him more than just drinks during his stay. Worst of all, rumours are circulating of a mystery guest who has come to inspect the place. Then Lucy stumbles upon a dead body in the annex ...

This play was first performed at the Sarah Thorne Memorial Theatre, Broadstairs in May 2012.

Tony:   The head barman of the hotel is clever and resourceful.  He runs the hotel and lets the hotel manager just think he does.  30-40

Avril:   The mysterious guest, a sophisticated lady or a snoop of some kind?  Attractive 40-year old.

David:  The hotel manager.  Mid-50s and in a mid-life crisis.   A worried man, pompous and trying to convince himself and everyone else that he is in charge.

Tanya:   A barmaid.  Attractive 20-30 year old.  A little bit naieve.

Sean: The reception porter.  A fantastist starring in his own imagined stories but falls to pieces when faced with reality.   20s or 30s

Lucy, A waitress.  50s.  Dim, silly and hysterical.

Boris Borishnikov: A Russian guest, imposing and charismatic.   Is he a spy Russian mafia or as he says a business man?  50s
