Summary

Maureen is the second half of the play 'A Different Way Home' and can be licensed separately. It runs for approximately 35 minutes. It is a monologue based in a small, closely-knit, North of England town. Maureen tells us that Leslie, her brother (Act 1) has succumbed to his grief over the death of his mother and we hear her side of the story - feeling rejected by her family and friends just because she married a Jew, she also feels betrayed for not being asked to help when needed.

The two voices convey the need for families to communicate - and for love to transcend prejudice.

History

The two plays, Leslie and Maureen, under the collective title of 'A Different Way Home' were first presented together at the Coliseum Theatre, Oldham on January 30th 1998. Both parts were played by a single actor, the stunningly versatile Roy Barraclough, under the direction of Kenneth Alan Taylor.
