Overview

In the autumn of his years, Henry Troutbeck Pottinger is transported back to the key episodes of his life. An ironic but affectionate commentator, he speaks with his younger selves as man and boy and offers warnings of a life to come and advice on how that life might be lived without the small self-delusions and regrets that will leave him ultimately unfulfilled.
