Unit Set/Multiple Settings

Based on the hugely successful British television series that ran for seven seasons, this uproarious comedy relates the adventures of a hapless cafe owner, Rene, in occupied France. You can see all of your favorite TV characters in the flesh, including Rene's tone-deaf wife Edith, Major-General von Klinkerhoffen and the Gestapo officer Herr Flick!

He and his wife have stashed a priceless portrait stolen by the Nazis in a sausage in their cellar, where two British airmen are also hiding until the Resistance can repatriate them. Communications with London using the wireless that is disguised as a cockatoo add to the many embarrassments this intrepid proprietor endures in the company of his patrons. News that the Fuhrer is scheduled to visit the town inspires tricksters disguised as Hitler to frequent the cafe. Meanwhile Rene summons all the wit he can muster to save his cafe and his life.

A riot of a farce, but full of 1980's non-PC humour., so delicate flowers better avoid. I do hope that our group decides to perform it as it will be a box office hit and send them home happy.

Our group have just finished our production of "'Allo 'Allo", and it's proved to be one of the most successful shows we have every done!  The script follows the television format very closely, and features all the characters you would expect.  It's full of comedy and innuendo, was hilarious to rehearse and had our audiences laughing from start to finish.  Staging was relatively simple - we kept it to a box set for the cafe, and lighting front of stage for other scenes.  There are very many props and sound effects, but if you are resourceful enough and have a strong actor who can take the lead part of Rene, then you have a sure fire hit on your hands!

A very funny, witty and absolutely hilarious comedy, with multiple confusions involving and ridiculing almost each character in the play.
Fun to rehearse and hopefully a classic success garant on stage for many more years.
