Summary

Geoff Tippet has arranged a special birthday treat for his old friend, Bob. The treat is a hotel room for the night, a double-bed, a champagne dinner, and an attractive girl called Mimi. The problem is that a shy Kate is next door anxiously awaiting her computer agency date, Dick, but Dick has been shown into the wrong room. Add in Bob's wife Liz, who believes she is dining with Geoff, and Tony the over-enthusiastic Italian room waiter who has to serve both rooms, and you have the recipe for a pretty convoluted evening. This light comedy premiered at the UK's Redgrave Theatre and is still regularly produced around Europe 40 years after its first British productions.

“A farce that’s nicely delivered to any age group. Go and celebrate.” – San Diego Theater Scene

“As with most farces you have the opening and closing of doors, the hiding, ducking, misplacing of possessions, et al. What is interesting in this production is that the comedy remains accessible; somehow more grounded and closer to our American sensitivity to humor, rather than one grounded in purely British witticism.” – OnStage

Birthday Suite is one to celebrate, no matter how many candles you find decorating your own birthday cake. It’s a farce that’s nicely delivered to any age group. Go and celebrate.” – San Diego Theater Scene

“Audiences will enjoy navigating this intricate web of ineptitude, bolstered by stereotypically British fumblings and slapstick comedy, including an unexpected incidence of drag.” – Whatsonstage USA
